Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
The site includes part of the north-eastern coastline of Crete and the island of Elasa. The area is dominated by phrygana and maquis scrub with some olive-groves and vineyards.
This is an important site for species associated with coastal cliffs and scrub and for passage migrants.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from agricultural intensification and hunting. The area is a candidate SAC.

International Low20 ha of IBA covered by Aesthetic Forest (Vai, 20 ha). 19 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Aisthitiko Dasos Vai, 19 ha).
