IBA Conservation

Ideally the conservation status of the IBA will have been checked regularly since the site was first identified in 2007. The most recent assessment (2018) is shown below.

IBA conservation assessment
Year of assessment State Pressure Response
2018 poor very high medium
Whole site assessed? State assessed by Accuracy of information
no habitat medium

State (condition of the trigger species' populations)
Species Actual vs Reference (units) % remaining Result
Lesser Adjutant Leptoptilos javanicus 0 / 10 (birds) 0 very poor
Greater Sandplover Charadrius leschenaultii 200 / 4,000 (birds) 5 very poor
Charadrius mongolus 1,800 / 1,200 (birds) 100 good
Whimbrel Numenius phaeopus 513 / 500 (birds) 100 good
Whimbrel Numenius phaeopus 513 / 500 (birds) 100 good
Eurasian Curlew Numenius arquata 4,985 / 400 (birds) 100 good
Bar-tailed Godwit Limosa lapponica 33 / 1,569 (birds) 3 very poor
Black-tailed Godwit Limosa limosa 0 / 2,617 (birds) 0 very poor
Spoon-billed Sandpiper Calidris pygmaea 0 / 1 (birds) 0 very poor

State (condition of the trigger species' habitats)
Habitat Quantity (% remaining) Quality (% carrying capacity) Result
Marine Intertidal moderate (70–90%) moderate (70–90%) poor

Pressure (threats to the trigger species and/or their habitats)
Threat Timing Scope Severity Result
Pollution happening now most of population/area (50–90%) rapid decline (>30% over 3 generations) very high

Response (conservation actions taken for the trigger species and/or their habitats)
Designation Planning Action Result
Most of area (50–90%) covered (including the most critical parts for important bird species) A management plan exists, but it is out of date or not comprehensive The conservation measures needed for the site are being comprehensively and effectively implemented medium
