Site location and context
Area located in the south of the Bryansk region.
This place is one of only three in Europe, where as many as 9 species of woodpeckers breed together.
Bryanskaya is an interesting region from a biogeographic point of view. Three very different landscapes meet here: deciduous broadleaved forests, southern taiga forests, and forest-steppe.
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Tere are 12 local protected areas (Zakazniks and Nature Monuments) on the territiry of IBA, which cover in total about 47500 ha (21327 of this located in the boundaries of Bryanski Les Zapovednik and thier buffer zone).There is a program of creation of International Russian-Ukranian biosphere reserve on this area.
