Nei Mongol Helan Shan Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the eastern part of Alxa Zuoqi, 30 km from Bayanhot and 50 km from Yinchuan. Helan Shan, at 3,556 m, is the highest mountain in Inner Mongolia.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Martes foina, Felis bieti, Felis silvestris, Felis lynx, Panthra uncia, Cervus elaphus and Pseudois nayaur.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as Helan Shan National Nature Reserve (Nei Mongol) in 1992.
