Site description (2002 baseline)
The ornithological importance of the Nechranice water reservoir is defined by its size, its proximity to large areas that can serve as pastures for the geese, and also by the fact that it is situated right on the migration route of waterbirds from Northern Europe at the edge of the Krusné hory mountains and the atec plateau. The importance of the locality as a migration stopover and wintering site has been increasing ever since 1980 when census work in the area began

Key biodiversity
The locality is the important wintering site and the important passage site for water birds.
