Site description (2000 baseline)
A large mountain area in northern Sicily, south of the village of S. Agata di Militello. The main habitat is broadleaved woodland (beech Fagus, oak Quercus); the area is rich in small freshwater ponds. It includes an area that was listed in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989) as `Rocche del Castro and surrounding valley' (former site IT129).
