Mudanfeng Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located 15 km south-east of Mudanjiang City. The IBA contains a microcosm of the typical forest succession in the Changbei region, with mixed pine-fir forests and other forest types.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Cervus nippon, Martes zibellina, Felis lynx, Panthera pardus and Cervus elaphus. Nationally protected plants include Panax ginseng, Juglans mandshurica, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica and Fraxinus mandshurica.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1981, and upgraded to Mudanfeng National Nature Reserve in 1994.
