Site location and context
The site consists of ponds, reedbeds (
Phragmites), riverine vegetation and cliffs.
The site is important for breeding and wintering waterbirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Tetrax tetrax (1-10 breeding pairs).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Cultivation and irrigation of the dry steppes, gravel extraction and hunting (including illegal hunting) are the main threats to the site.
