Site location and context
Steep mountains with numerous cliffs and
Castanea and
Abies forest. Human activities include forestry, stock-raising, and hunting.
This is an important area for breeding raptors and species characteristic of forest and scrub. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Falco naumanni (non-breeding).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from fires, deforestation and hunting. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

International None674 ha of IBA covered by Aesthetic Forest (Steni Aesthetic Forest, 674 ha). 677 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Stenis Dirfys Chalkidas, 677 ha). 212 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Tsirloneri-Ortari/Kymis-Vitalou, 212 ha). 2,500 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Makiolivado-Virgini-Koutas/Pagontas, Markaton, Ag. Sofiar, Attalis, 2,500 ha). 500 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Klimataria-Koutoupas/Glifades, 500 ha). 3,400 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Kaditiko-Pasiotioka/Kadiou-Ag.Vlassiou-Manikion, 3,400 ha).
