Mountain ranges of Cordoba


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A mountainous area with many cliffs. The slopes are covered with Mediterranean scrub, some Quercus woodland, arable crops and olive-groves.



Key biodiversity
This is an important area for resident raptors.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from the enlargement of olive-groves, overgrazing, the high hunting pressure and use of poison, uncontrolled tourism, and disturbance from climbers. A management plan exists.



Protected areas
National Partial International None31,568 ha of IBA covered by Natural Park (Sierras Subbeticas de Córdoba, 31,568 ha).
