Mount Vourinos


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
Most slopes of Mount Vourinos are covered by grassland or scrub, except for the central valley which has Pinus, Abies and Fagus forests.



Key biodiversity
The site is important for raptors and species associated with Mediterranean scrub and grassland.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Hunting is prohibited on part of the site although poisoning occurs. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.



Protected areas
National Low International None1,425 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Tservena-Bourinos/Dim. Siatistas-Palaiokastrou, 1,425 ha).
