Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A rugged mountain with an extensive alpine zone, limited Abies woodland, and extensive grasslands. The main human activity is livestock-farming.



Key biodiversity
An important site for resident raptors, forest and alpine grassland.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are illegal hunting and the use of poison baits. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.



Protected areas
National Partial International None1,653 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Makria Rachi, Dryodasos Pentagion/Kokkinou, 1,653 ha). Part of IBA covered by Controlled Hunting Area (Orini Parnassidus, 24,0341 ha). Part of IBA covered by Controlled Hunting Area (Makrin Rachi, Dryodaxsos Pentagion, 1,767 ha).
