Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A forested mountain, dominated by Fagus and Quercus, with broadleaved evergreen forest in the eastern part of the site and evergreen scrub at lower altitudes.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding forest species.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from intense hunting pressure outside the Wildlife Refuges. The road network is increasing. The area is a candidate SAC.



Protected areas
National Partial International None1,100 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Ag. Dimitrios-Itamo/Mileon-Xourichtiou, 1,100 ha). 1,800 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Dasos I.M. Flamouriou/Keramidiou, 1,800 ha). 2,300 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Dasos Palias Mitzelas/Pouriou, 2,300 ha).
