Mount Krousia (Mavrovouni and Dysoro)


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
Forested hills south of Lake Kerkini. Fagus forest dominates at higher altitudes and Quercus on the lower slopes.



Key biodiversity
This is an important IBA for breeding and passage raptors and breeding forest passerines. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (2-4 resident individuals), Aquila heliaca (passage), Falco naumanni (passage).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are logging and hunting. The area is a candidate SAC.
