Site description (2009 baseline)
Huang Shan is located in southern Anhui Province, and is the highest mountain in eastern China. It is a famous tourist attraction for its pine forests, rocks, hot springs and clouds.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Emmenopterys henryi and Liriodendron chinense. Animals include Andrias davidianus, Neofelis nebulosa, Panthera pardus, Cervus nippon, Capricornis sumatraensis and Selenarctos thibetanus. The frog Rana tormotus is endemic to Huang Shan.
