Mount Grammos


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A mountain range on the Albanian border, with extensive pasture land, forests and cliffs. Human activities include forestry, livestock-farming, and hunting.



Key biodiversity
This is an important area for resident raptors and species associated with alpine habitats.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Part of the area is a candidate SAC.



Protected areas
National Partial International Partial2,769 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Patoma, Mavri Petra, Limes, Arena, Lioukou, Stavro, 2,769 ha). 1,100 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Katafiki/Gramou, 1,100 ha). 3,200 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Arrenon Gramou/Gramou, 3,200 ha). 4,100 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Reserve (Psoriarika-Tsarno, 4,100 ha). 130 ha of IBA covered by Natural Monument (Grammos Forest, 130 ha). Part of IBA covered by Biogenetic Reserve.
