Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A rugged limestone mountain. The northern part is covered by extensive
Pinus forest, other areas with fir
Abies forest, and the higher parts with alpine grassland. The Kalavrita side of the mountain is used for winter tourism. Elsewhere the main activity is livestock-farming.
This is an important site for species associated with conifer forests, alpine pasture and upland rivers.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from continued tourism developments and illegal hunting. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
