Site description (2000 baseline):
The site is important for species typical of Mediterranean habitats, such as
Sylvia conspicillata, S. undata and
Calandrella brachydactyla. The site is a migratory bottleneck, where 3,000 or more raptors regularly pass in spring (including
Pernis apivorus 2,000;
Milvus migrans 3,000). Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Circus macrourus (passage);
Aquila clanga (passage).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are the expansion of intensive viticulture, conifer plantations and recreation during summer. Spring hunting is also a threat.
