Site description (2002 baseline):
Site location and context
Open country with cultivation and grassland, alternating with open woodland of evergreen oak
Quercus ilex and olive-groves. Fallow fields are grazed by sheep.
Important to conservation of species with a unfavourable statute of conservation, specially for breeding birds of steppic habitats. Also it is important presence of
Burhinus oedicnemus,
Coracias garrulus, and others.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Nesting birds are disturbed by increasing road-traffic. Agricultural practices are undergoing moderate intensification, which will lead to a greater human influence on the site.
