Site description (2007 baseline)
A large area of high-altitude plateau, with steep-sided gullies and large cliff-fringed corries. Species-poor lochs punctuate the plateau, which supports continental and oceanic heaths rich in lichens and a wide range of late snow-bed communities. The IBA supports a suite of breeding upland birds, including a number of species of raptor.
