Site location and context
Mira Por Vos site is made up of rocky islands and shoals covering forty square miles. It is located nine miles west of Salina Point, Acklins. Mira Por Vos loosely translates into Watch Out! and the coastline lives up to its name.
This site provide nesting habitat for Audubon's Shearwater, Sooty Terns, Bridled Terns and Brown Noddies. North Rock is one of the few Brown Booby nesting sites in the Bahamas. Flamingos and Reddish Egrets have been seen at a pond on South Cay.
This uninhabited rocky area provide a haven for nesting seabirds.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Possibility of refugees landing on the rocks and cays and using the wildlife for food.
