Mikres Kyklades island complex


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A complex of small islands and islets east of Naxos. The majority are covered with maquis and phrygana. Human activities include fishing, stock-raising, tourism and hunting.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding seabirds and raptors associated with coastal cliffs. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Larus audouinii.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from tourism developments and introduced rats and cats. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
