Site location and context
A complex of non-intensively managed wet meadows, hay-meadows and arable fields with small areas of reed
Phragmites and riverine forest.
An important site for breeding species associated with non-intensively used wet meadows.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The wet meadows are threatened by nutrient inputs from surrounding arable agriculture and drainage through the canalization of rivers which causes a reduction in water-levels.

International High63 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Bangser Ried, 63 ha). 279 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Matschels, 386 ha). 279 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Bangser Ried und Matschels, 447 ha).
