A low, dry area of hills in southern Italy, facing the Ionian Sea, north-west of the town of Crotone and crossed by the Neto river. The site is rich in rocky areas and small villages. The main land-use is agriculture. The site incorporates an IBA that was listed separately in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989), `Foce del Fiume Neto' (former site IT106).

Key biodiversity
The area inland is important for breeding and migrating raptors while the coastal lagoons support high numbers of non-breeding waterbirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Falco naumanni (1-10 on passage).
