Site location and context
The site includes an estuary with mudflats and saltmarshes, brackish lagoons, abandoned salinas and wet meadows.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for waterbirds, particularly herons.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The abandonment of grazing and high hunting pressure, including illegal night hunting, are the main threats. The erection of powerlines and the exploitation of timber in the main heronry are also threats.
