Site location and context
An area of marshes with ponds, reedbeds (Phragmites), wet meadows and deciduous woodlands.



Key biodiversity
The area is important for birds breeding in reedbeds and passage waterbirds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Uncontrolled burning of vegetation and hunting pressure are the main threats to the site, which is not adequately managed.



Protected areas
National None International Partial1,200 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Marais de Balançon, 1,200 ha).
