Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
The IBA is situated in the north of the Alps, close to the Austrian border. It comprises forest (
Fagus,
Acer,
Abies and
Picea), alpine meadows and rocky areas. A diverse flora exists due to the varying calcareous/silicate ground conditions.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Current problems include infrastructure expansion and disturbance caused by tourism.
National High
International None4,412 ha of IBA covered by Landscape Protected Area (Rotwand, 4,412 ha). IBA overlaps with Nature Reserve.
