Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A coastal mountain complex in the north of Sicily, south of the town of Cefalù. There is a very varied mosaic of habitats, including broadleaved woodlands, pastures and rocky areas.
An important breeding site for raptors.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
There is a project to reintroduce
Gyps fulvus, coordinated by LIPU and the Regional Nature Park.

International Unknown2,949 ha of IBA covered by Regional Nature Reserve (Faggeta Madonia, 2,949 ha). 2,010 ha of IBA covered by Regional Nature Reserve (Monte Quacella, 2,010 ha). 39,941 ha of IBA covered by Regional Nature Park (Madonie, 39,941 ha). Overlaps with SPA.
