Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A shallow bay in the straits of öresund, situated 20-30 km to the north of a new bridge linking Sweden and Denmark. The beaches are of sand and clay; grazed meadows are also present.
This is important as a stop-over site for passage wildfowl and waders, as well as for wintering wildfowl (for example,
Anas penelope,
Aythya fuligula and
Bucephala clangula).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Undergrazing is a problem. A Ramsar Site (1,960 ha) is likely to be designated in the near future.
National Low
International NoneIBA overlaps with Nature Reserve (218 ha).
