Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A fertile valley with riverine forest,
Pinus forest and dehesas.
This is an important site for breeding forest raptors and
Ciconia nigra. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Falco naumanni (20 breeding pairs).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Agricultural intensification, particularly pesticide pollution and illegal use of water resources, together with a project to build a new dam are the main threats.
