Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An isolated endorreic lagoon with a fluctuating water-level. It is surrounded by
Tamarix copses. Part of the lagoon is a gravel-pit.
This is an important site for wintering ducks, particularly
Marmaronetta angustirostris and
Oxyura leucocephala.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The most important threats are from gravel extraction and ploughing of fields around the lake. Hunting is forbidden.
