Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
An area of extensive endorreic plains with some seasonal brackish lagoons and steppe vegetation. The major land-use is non-irrigated cereal cultivation, livestock-farming and hunting.



Key biodiversity
This is an important area for steppic species, wildfowl and passage waders.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The site is threatened by huge irrigation schemes, the use of poison baits, and overgrazing.
