Site description (2000 baseline)
The largest raised bog in Denmark, and one of the best preserved lowland raised bogs in north-west Europe, with small lakes and wooded areas. Høstemark Skov and Tofte Skov hold stands of mature mixed forest dominated by Fagus and Quercus with Tilia and Alnus. Areas of natural forest to raised bog ecotone are also preserved in several parts of the IBA. The percentage cover of arable land is uncertain.

Key biodiversity
Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive breed at the site including Circus aeruginosus, Grus grus, Philomachus pugnax and Lanius collurio.
