Site description (2004 baseline)
The site consists of several small and separate fragments of Lielupe river floodplain meadows, some of the last surviving examples of its once vast floodplains. Listed as an IBA since 2000 [3, 1]. High protection level: there is a 89.1% overlap with Lielupe floodplain meadows restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA. The gap between IBA and pSPA boundaries is partly due to differences in methods in boundary setting.
