Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A mountainous area with dense oak
Quercus forest,
Castanea sativa woodland,
Pinus plantations and extensive areas of scrub. Around villages there are arable fields, olive-groves, grasslands and dehesas.
This is an important site for breeding raptors and
Ciconia nigra.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are the construction of new dams and roads, urban development, and hunting pressure.
Aquila adalberti is vulnerable to disturbance by livestock.
