Site description (2001 baseline):
Site location and context
An area of forest-tundra and tundra near the town of Nikel.
The IBA is located very close to Monchegorsk industrial centre, and as a result parts of the site suffer the large negative influences of pollution from the ores industry.Forest fires can be a problem.
