Site location and context
A large, nutrient-rich freshwater lake with extensive reedbeds (
Phragmites) and adjoining areas of wetland.
An important area for breeding wetland species and as a stop-over site for passage wildfowl. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Haliaeetus albicilla.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
American mink
Mustela vison pose a threat to breeding birds. Lake water is supplied to Uppsalathe resulting water regime is unfavorable to birds (`Other' threat).
