Site description (2000 baseline)
A lake partly fed by springs and drained by underground streams and by a canal. In some years the lake dries up and is used for cultivation. The surrounding area is a mixture of scrub and agricultural areas. Human activities include arable agriculture, stock-raising and hunting.
Key biodiversity
The site is important for breeding, passage and wintering waterbirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla.
