Site summary
An area including the southern shore and shallow areas of Lake Neuchâtel, together with open water. The shoreline is fringed by reedbeds, sedge-beds, marshland and alluvial forest. An important area for wintering waterbirds, migrating waders and breeding species associated with reedbeds. The site holds 20’000 or more waterbirds in winter, on a regular basis. There is high tourist pressure, particularly in summer. Waterlevels are artificially regulated so many marshland areas dry out.
