Lake Lacha


Site description (2001 baseline):

Site location and context
Huge lake on the south of Arkhangelsk region, surrounded by very wet forest and bogs.

Key biodiversity
Up to 40000 ducks are gatherd on the lake after breeding season

Habitat and land use
High irregular flooding is a threat (natural events).Lachski Zakaznik which was created here in 1971 should be maintaned up to 1986. It is unclear by 2000 are this Zakaznik still exists or not. Corrections of status of protected area and their boundaries is needed.
