Site summary
A shallow bay on Lake Constance with a mainly artificial shoreline. The Swiss part of a transboundary IBA together with the German IBA «Lake Constance-Obersee, and the adjacent
Seerhein» (site DE227).
The site holds 20’000 or more waterbirds in winter, on a regular basis (includes Tufted Duck 2’500-5’600 individuals). The site only fulfils criteria if the Swiss and German IBA are considered together.
The main threat is disturbance from boats. Most of the area is protected from hunting by cantonal legislation.
