Site description (2009 baseline)
Located in Tianquan County. The IBA is in a transitional mountain-canyon area between the Sichuan Basin and the Sichuan Plateau. The vegetation shows prominent vertical zonation, with broadleaf evergreen forest below 1,600 m, broadleaf evergreen and deciduous mixed forest from 1,600-2,000 m, coniferous-broadleaf mixed forest from 2,000-2,600 m, coniferous forest from 2,600-3,600 m, alpine scrub and grassland from 3,600-4,100 m, and alpine vegetation above 4,100 m.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Davidia involucrate, Tetracentron sinense and Cercidiphyllum japonicum. Animals include Ailurpoda melanolenca, Pygathrix roxellanae, Panthera pardus, Neofelis nebulosa, Felis temmincki, Ailurus fulgens, Pseudois nayaur, Moschus berezovskii, Macaca thibetana, Macaca mulatta and Cervus unicolor.
