Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A mountain range with cliffs, large expanses of scrub and grassland, a few
Fagus and
Quercus woodlands and
Pinus plantations. The area is used for livestock-farming and hunting.
This is an important site for cliff-nesting birds.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from intensive forest management, overgrazing in the
Fagus forest and hunting. There is a project to erect 40 wind-farms in the site. The pressure from recreational activities is increasing.
