Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
This IBA comprises two sites, separated by the River Schelde; Kuifeend, an area of freshwater pools and reedbeds, and Blokkersdijk, a shallow freshwater lake surrounded by reed- and willow-marshes.
This is an internationally important wintering site for
Anas crecca and
A. clypeata. The area is also important for breeding reedbed species and staging and wintering ducks and grebes.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Breeding and wintering birds have been monitored for almost 20 years by Natuurreservaten Antwerpen-Noord.

International High56 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Kuifeend, 56 ha). 100 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Blokkersdijk, 100 ha). 194 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (De Kuifeend en Blokkersdijk, 194 ha).
