Site location and context
The site boundary is based upon a seaward extension of 7 km around Kolombangara to encompass high use and transit areas of IBA threshold numbers of Heinroth's Shearwater based upon a 1990 minimum population estimate of 5 individuals from Buckingham, D.L., Dutson, G. and Newman, J. (1990) Birds of Manus, Kolombangara and Makira (San Cristobal) with notes on mammals and records from other Solomon Islands. Report of the Cambridge Solomons Rainforest Project 1990.
