Site description (2000 baseline)
A small eutrophic lake surrounded by young deciduous forests in the heart of Häme province. The area of open water is small, with extensive marshes of Equisetum, Carex and grasses, which were harvested by local people until the 1950s, and now are encroaching on the lake. The major human activity is large-scale hunting in autumn.

Key biodiversity
One of the best breeding areas for Porzana porzana in Finland. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (1-5 pairs, breeding).
