Site description (2000 baseline)
A deciduous forest dominated by Fagus on steep chalk cliffs. The site also includes calcareous grassland, grazing areas with hedges, and some smaller wetlands.
Key biodiversity
The site has a high diversity of birds but numbers of most species are low. Pernis apivorus, Sylvia nisoria and Lanius collurio, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, breed at the site.
