Site location and context
Three rocky islands and associated sea cliffs.
Also holds breeding
Larus glaucoides (20 pairs),
Alca torda,
Cepphus grylle (290 individuals) and
Fratercula arctica (1994 data).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
This site was once one of the most important
Somateria mollissima colonies in Greenland˜numbers have crashed since the beginning of the 1900s as a result of persecution by humans. If suitable protection measures are introduced then numbers of
Somateria mollissima will probably begin to increase again.
