Key biodiversity
Important area for White-winged Duck Cairina scutulata, Storm's Stork Ciconia stormi, and Wallace's Hawk-eagle Spizaetus nanus. This area is a breeding site for at least 400 pairs of heron (probably Purple Heron Ardea purpurea) but the number has decreasing because of over exploitation of egg and juvenile (Burn & Brickle 1992). In 1997 survey by Tim Ekspedisi Cairina scutulata found the White-winged Duck in Geloga. The southern boundary of Indragiri River is very rich with bird diversity. At least 8 species, White-winged Duck Cairina scutulata, 23 Milky Stork Mycterea cinerea, and Lesser adjutant Leptoptilus javanicus found near Kuala Cinaku transmigration area. Kuala Cinaku is the area in Indonesia where Northern Pintail Anas acuta first recorded in November 1992(Burn & Brickle 1992).
