Kanmurijima islet: The site is an islet located at about 30 km off shore of Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is 413 m wide from east to west, 1,316 m long from north to south, 22.3 ha in area and 169.7 m above sea level at the highest point. The entire islet is designated as a natural monument for the breeding colony of Streaked Shearwater. Evergreen broadleaf trees such as Castanopsis cuspdata cover the islet, and its circumference is formed by steep cliffs except in some places. Kutsujima islet: This islet is located on the north of Kanmurijima. It is a long and narrow rock surfaced islet with a few shrubs. Besides thousands of Black-tailed Gulls, breeding of the Japanese Murrelet and Swinhoe's Storm-petrel has been confirmed.
